Maddie Burggraaf

I am a trauma-trained EMDR and Clinical EFT practitioner, supporting women as they navigate overwhelming emotions and complex life experiences.

I work with women from all backgrounds, with a particular interest in those living internationally. Having lived in seven countries myself, I understand some of the unique challenges that can come with an international life, including relocation, divorce and co-parenting across borders.

Outside of work, I'm a proud mom to a wonderful 10-year-old son, a third culture kid (TCK) who spent his early childhood between Asia and Europe.

I have found EFT and EMDR to be a helpful bridge between talk-based therapy and somatic techniques that support the movement of trauma and emotion through the body.

Welcome, I’m glad you are here.

  • Trauma is not what happens to you, it is what happens inside of you as a result of what happens to you.

  • Trauma fundamentally means a disconnection from self. When you disconnect from yourself, you no longer have yourself.

  • Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.

  • Being validated by feeling heard and seen is a precondition for feeling safe, which is critical when we explore the dangerous territory of trauma and abandonment.
